The 4th

This year the family gathered in San Diego to celebrate Independence Day together. Regina's family is always in San Diego for the 4th, but this year her beach house week ended on the 3rd...so we were able to begin "our" week on the 4th. Regina's family stayed an extra couple days, Grumpaw & Nana brought Billy on Thursday, Mike & I brought Syd on Friday with us and Richelle & her brood of boys drove over on Thursday night.

Mike & I were smart enough to get a hotel room...to avoid the multitude of people at the beach house...(note to self: smartest decision thus far.) **Richelle wanted me to add that she and her boys also rented a hotel Thursday & Friday night...just for the record.**

We met up in the early afternoon at the beach house and had a quick visit from Wendy & Michael. They were in San Diego visiting Wendy's cousin and enjoying the California weather to ride their Harleys.

After a while, we headed over to fulfill the Grossarth Family Tradition of Fuddruckers for 4th of July dinner. We enjoyed our expensive hamburgers and the kiddos enjoyed the few toys/games.

When all the food was gone, we headed to Coronado to enjoy the fireworks. The weather was nice & cool...the fireworks were good too. I think we enjoyed being together more than any of the other stuff...the cousins especially love getting to be together.

When the fireworks were done, Mike & I headed back to the Marriott for the remainder of our weekend getaway together, Ryan & Michelle left their two older girls with Nana and headed north with Alexis. The rest of the family headed back to the beach houses (Nana & Grumpaw have the small cottage next door this year) for the night.
