This weekend we prepared Derek for his first skate boarding camp. We packed clothes, lunches, snacks and pads. Then Anthony brought it to my attention that Derek's board from Christmas was trashed and he probably needed a new board... or two. So we headed to the store and Derek was spoiled enough to get a new board and a back up board, just in case.
This morning we all woke up early and headed East to Mesa. The freeway was beautifully clear and we made great time.
Derek was SO excited and performed so well that he was immediately moved up from his age group to the teens level.
We hung around for a while before visiting the other east side family members (Regina & Co and Randi). While at Randi's the younger boys were so excited to watch Randi's turtles. They were so cute, until Jake began to throw rocks into the pond. Then the visit with the animals ended.
Later in the afternoon we picked Derek up from camp and drove him to Regina's where he will be cared for, protected and driven to/from camp. Surprisingly, I already miss him.
