Honeymoon Day 7 – Kauai and the Quazi-Blackish Sand Beach

We woke up this morning and headed to airport. We took the shortest flight ever from Oahu to Kauai. We rented a convertible and headed to our hotel. We had a jeep in Oahu and found it not quite as fun as we’d hoped. Taking the top off was a lot of work and because it rained A LOT…it would have been up, down, up, down…ugh. Plus, there was NO locking anything inside…since the windows can be cut with a hang nail.

We made it to the hotel with no problems…there is only one main road here, so if we get lost…we need more than help. Not to mention, we have Garmin…our road trip buddy!!

We checked in, dropped out luggage with the bellman and headed to find food. After lunch, we thought we should see what our new room was like, and then we headed out to drive to the only black sand beach!! It’s very close to Waimea Canyon, so it was a bit of a drive from the hotel.
The drive was totally worth it!! The sand wasn't quite as black as the beach on Maui I visited, but it was beautiful. It’s the first sunset we’ve been able to see since we’ve been here and the sand was SO soft!! The beach was EMPTY…the opposite of Waikiki and North Shore beaches.

The parts of the island that we have seen so far made us very sad that we are only here for four days. This place is breathtaking and we’ve only seen small pieces of it. I can’t wait to really partake in the island’s beauty tomorrow when we get to do a zip line adventure!!

how fun!! everything that I have ever heard about Kauai is that it is amazing. Every person that I have talked to said that they have been to the other islands, but since coming to Kauai that is the only island that they ever go back to. My boss did that same Zip tour in Kauai and Had a blast he said that it was incredible!!
